Since retirement from Corporate America in 2013, June Wood found her purpose in life to use her passion, skills, and abilities to make a positive impact in this world. Through much meditation, soul searching and some personal life changing experiences, she now re-fired (not retired) to encourage, inspire, and mentor other women through the non-profit established as the Virtuous Women Life Academy.
Recently, she witnessed several women and women with children experiencing difficult situations. These ladies want a hand up and not a hand out. They want to overcome mistakes made in the past (divorce, job loss, lack of family support, lack of education, etc.). They are homeless or just one paycheck from being homeless. They are stressed to the max wondering how they are going to make it as a single parent; they are working but just can’t get ahead; they want a better life for themselves and their children. They are just overwhelmed and only need some counseling, mentoring, temporary housing and support. They need some help to move forward towards their dreams.
Since 2014, June has provided outreach to over 10 women and their children by referring them to counseling, providing & coordinating emergency shelter & transitional housing, assisting with vehicle maintenance, and mentoring for job preparation & placements, parenting, higher education, parenting and other life skills.
It is her vision to share her personal challenges, mistakes, lessons learned, accomplishments and other life experiences along with the experiences of other colleagues to inspire other women especially homeless women and their children to overcome life challenges and strive to be a positive role model as an individual, spouse, mother, and community leader for our society.
To inspire women and their children to be self-supporting with empowerment, education, and employment in Clayton, Henry, Fayette and South Fulton Counties.
